Program 7: Leadership Skills Training Session

Why

Leadership empowers individuals to inspire, guide, and influence positive change. This program nurtures leadership traits, preparing participants for roles of responsibility.

What

Participants will engage in activities that focus on leadership qualities, effective communication, and decision-making.

How

By developing their leadership potential, participants will emerge as confident, capable leaders, ready to make a difference in their communities and beyond.

1. Introduction to Leadership (15 minutes)

  • Icebreaker Activity (5 minutes): “Leadership Charades”
    • Participants take turns acting out leadership traits or actions.
  • Welcome and Objective (5 minutes):
    • Explain what leadership means and why it’s important in school, community, and future careers.
  • Group Discussion (5 minutes):
    • Ask participants about times they saw someone showing leadership and how it made a difference.

2. Leadership Traits and Qualities (30 minutes)

  • Activity 1 (10 minutes): “Leader Charades”
    • Participants act out different leadership traits (e.g., confidence, communication) while others guess.
  • Activity 2 (10 minutes): “Trait Match”
    • Provide a list of leadership traits. Participants match them with real-life examples.
  • Activity 3 (10 minutes): “Leader in Me”
    • Participants take turns sharing a trait they admire in themselves or someone they know.

3. Effective Communication for Leaders (30 minutes)

  • Activity 1 (15 minutes): “Leading by Example”
  • Participants pair up. One leads a simple activity while the other follows instructions.
  • Activity 2 (15 minutes): “Listen and Lead”
  • Participants work in pairs. One person leads a short activity, while the other gives feedback.

4. Problem-Solving and Decision Making (30 minutes)

  • Activity 1 (15 minutes): “Leader’s Dilemma”
    • Provide a scenario. Participants discuss and decide on the best course of action for a leader.
  • Activity 2 (15 minutes): “Team Decision-Making”
    • Participants work in teams to solve a problem. They discuss and present their solution.

5. Practice and Feedback (30 minutes)

  • Group Activity (15 minutes): “Leadership Challenge”
    • Participants work in teams to complete a task, with each taking turns leading.
  • Group Discussion and Feedback (15 minutes):
    • Ask participants to share what they’ve learned about effective leadership.

6. Conclusion and Reflection (15 minutes)

  • Group Discussion (10 minutes):
    • Ask participants to share one leadership trait they’d like to develop.
  • Closing Remarks (5 minutes):
    • Summarize the session and encourage participants to continue developing their leadership skills.
