Program 2: Time Management Skills Training Session

Why

Time management is the compass that guides us through our daily tasks and long-term goals. It empowers individuals to prioritize effectively, leading to increased productivity, reduced stress, and a better work-life balance.

What

This program focuses on equipping participants with the tools and strategies to make the most of their time. Through practical exercises and techniques, they will learn to set priorities, create schedules, and maximize their productivity.

How

Participants will engage in hands-on activities, explore time management tools, and develop personalized strategies to better allocate their time. By mastering this skill, they will be better equipped to meet deadlines, accomplish tasks efficiently, and ultimately lead more balanced and fulfilling lives.

1. Introduction to Time Management (15 minutes)

  • Icebreaker Activity (5 minutes): “Timeline Race”
    • Provide a large sheet of paper. Have participants draw a timeline of their day, from waking up to going to bed.
  • Welcome and Objective (5 minutes):
    • Explain why managing time is important for school, personal tasks, and future success.
  • Group Discussion (5 minutes):
    • Ask participants about activities they do in a day and how they manage their time.

2. Prioritizing Tasks (30 minutes)

  • Activity 1 (10 minutes): “Sorting Priorities”
    • Provide a list of tasks (e.g., homework, playing, eating). Participants rank them in order of importance.
  • Activity 2 (10 minutes): “Time Capsule”:
    • Participants plan their day, allocating time for different tasks.
  • Activity 3 (10 minutes): “Daily Planner”
    • Provide templates for a simple daily planner. Participants fill it in with their tasks.

3. Dealing with Distractions (30 minutes)

  • Activity 1 (15 minutes): “Spot the Distraction”
    • Show pictures with distractions. Participants identify them and discuss how to avoid them.
  • Activity 2 (15 minutes): “Concentration Game”
    • Play a game where participants need to focus on a task despite distractions.

4. Practice and Feedback (30 minutes)

  • Group Activity (15 minutes): “Time Management Challenge”
    • Participants work in teams to plan a fictional day with different tasks.
  • Group Discussion and Feedback (15 minutes):
    • Ask participants to share what they’ve learned about managing their time effectively.

5. Conclusion and Reflection (15 minutes)

  • Group Discussion (10 minutes):
    • Ask participants to share one time management tip they found helpful.
  • Closing Remarks (5 minutes):
    • Summarize the session and encourage participants to continue using these skills.
